As part of the tenth annual RADical Days, several arts programs are participating in offering free admission on specific days now through October 16. For anyone in the area who would like something different from the drone of television sports, two museums I highly recommend are offering free admission for visitors on Sunday, October 2
The Heinz History Center Fort Pitt Museum will have free admission October 2 from 10:00AM-5:00PM, located at 101 Commonwealth Place in Point State Park in Downtown Pittsburgh.
Through interactive exhibits, lifelike historical figures and recently added artifacts, the Fort Pitt Museum brings to life the story of Western Pennsylvania’s pivotal role during the French & Indian War, the American Revolution, and the birthplace of Pittsburgh.
Fort Pitt Museum’s newest exhibit is The American Frontier Rifleman: Tall Tales & Truth.
Mattress Factory offers free admission October 2 from 1:00-5:00PM, located at 500 Sampsonia Way in Pittsburgh’s North Side.
The Mattress Factory is a one of a few museums of its kind anywhere. This museum presents contemporary art that its visitors can get into. The Mattress Factory’s room-sized exhibits are created by in-residence artists, many pieces which are breathtaking and of original style not seen anywhere else.
Whether you love history or more into contemporary art, the Fort Pitt Museum and the Mattress Factory are excellent places to visit for doses of culture this weekend.
