Who can resist a holiday cultural classic, especially performances done in such graceful and elegant style by the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre?
The annual production of PBT’s The Nutcracker opened at the Benedum Center December 2 to a receptive and dazzled audience. With its brilliant costumes, a larger-than-life Christmas tree, more than 80 dancers and scores by Tchaikovsky make The Nutcracker a production which every family should make part of their yearly holiday traditions.
PBT will also present a special performance at the Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, 1 Schenley Park, Pittsburgh, on December 8 (This event is currently sold out).
The Nutcracker’s 2011 performances are sponsored by Macy’s and Giant Eagle, and its 2011-12 Family Series sponsored by Clearview Federal Credit Union. All are thanked for their generosities to the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre.
