The Steelers this weekend will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the greatest play in NFL history, the Immaculate Reception, with a number of events in conjunction with the team’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Sunday’s game marks 40 years to the day, Dec. 23, 1972, the anniversary of the Immaculate Reception.
The festivities will begin on Saturday, Dec. 22, with the Steelers and the Senator John Heinz History Center, along with Allegheny Technologies Incorporated (ATI), unveiling an Immaculate Reception monument near Heinz Field. The unveiling will take place at 4:15 p.m. and will include many former Steelers who were involved in the play, including Hall of Fame running back Franco Harris and running back Frenchy Fuqua.
