Donovan Finds Love…Or Did It Find Him?

Lucky in LoveCarrie Ann’s Blog Hops – Lucky In Love

March.

Spring lies ahead, as does St. Patrick’s Day and wearing o’ the green. For one day, we are all Irish. If you’re not in green, you’re probably going to get pinched. We possibly find luck, the elusive pot of gold…and maybe love.

If you read The Cruiserweight’s Daughter (Kindle Edition,That Right Publishing, 2012), Donovan Klass was introduced as a new character. To see this young man, he TheCruiserweightsDaughter_cover_smallappears to have everything; he’s good-looking in a quirky sense, outgoing, friendly, caring, humorous, intelligent, grew up in a stable and loving upper-middle-class home, and somewhat mischievous and a bit sex crazy at times (but what man in his early twenties isn’t?).

There’s one thing missing from Donovan’s life – aside from the occasional hook-ups with a childhood female friend and eyeing attractive yet unattainable sorority girls – the right one who will truly love him in return.

Fast forward a few years. In Klass Act, Donovan is now out of college and in his mid-twenties. He has a daughter he adores, a very young half-sibling (from his father’s current marriage), and a responsible job that keeps him busy…but still no steady love.

He’s ready to accept his position in life as a single father until Fate offered a hand in late winter/early spring (think March!), bringing together him together – via an unexpected scenario – with a young woman who was also searching for her own soul mate.

From outward appearances, Donovan and Lana are an unlikely pair. She is a ballet dancer whose career allowed her to move among the highest KlassAct_covercircles of society. He’s the son of a somewhat rough around the edges retired professional wrestling cruiserweight legend-turned producer-turned trainer. She’s shy and soft spoken. He’s loud and tough toward those he thinks may hurt someone, yet low-key and gentle with Lana, his daughter, and other people he loves.

Lana is enthralled with Donovan, but he’s hesitant to follow through with his own feelings – at least at first. It’s the age-old excuse: he believes he’s not good enough for her. While his father encourages their relationship, her mother finds him less than an ideal mate for her daughter.

You could say Lana found her own pot of gold in Donovan. She doesn’t care if he isn’t a wealthy benefactor from the ballet, though he’s bemused at first that such a beautiful and refined woman would fall in love with him. He eventually accepts with alacrity that not only does Lana love him for him, but also accepts the other important female in his life – his little girl.

Whether or not either of them wear green, get pinched, or find gold at the end of the rainbow remains to be seen. They have, however, found each other at the end of a rainbow (well, not literally, but you get the picture).

Donovan did indeed find love…or did it find him? It depends on whom you ask.

  2. What a great giveaway hop! I have yet to be lucky in love but I’m working on it. My favorite love book is “Outlander” by Diana Gabaldon. Jamie Fraser is amazing and beautiful. I enjoy St. Patty’s Day and this year I’m spending it with my best friend. We’re going to two Irish Pubs and also some dance clubs. I am also wearing green and am not a fan of getting pinched. I’m not Irish either, but many people think I am because my hair is red, my eyes green and my name is Meghan, but I’m not at all. I won’t be telling anybody that, however… let them believe I’m Irish.
    Thanks for the giveaway!
